Kids Swimming Lessons in Sengkang

Small-group and private swimming lessons for children from 3.5 years, at Sengkang Swimming Complex on Anchorvale Road — five minutes from Farmway LRT, with sheltered teaching pools so a passing shower doesn’t cut the lesson short.

Why Sengkang Is One of the Better Pools for Children Learning to Swim

Not every ActiveSG complex suits a nervous five-year-old. Sengkang does, and for specific reasons.

It has two dedicated teaching pools — most complexes have one. That means shallow water, less waiting, and coaches who aren’t competing for lane space with lap swimmers. For a child anxious about depth, being able to stand up at any moment changes everything about their first few lessons.

The teaching pools are sheltered, so a passing shower doesn’t end the session — a real advantage over open-air complexes through the monsoon months.

And it has a fun pool with eight slides, the largest slide setup at any ActiveSG complex we teach at. Children who associate the pool with fun turn up willing to learn. Plenty of our Sengkang families stay on for an hour after class, and that unstructured water time does as much for confidence as the lesson itself.

Swimming Lessons for Children Afraid of Water

This is what we are known for. Most schools can teach a willing child to swim. Fewer can get a child into the water who has decided they will not go in.

We do not force progression. No child is dunked, counted down, or pushed under before they are ready. A frightened child does not learn — they brace, hold their breath and wait for the lesson to end. So we start where the child actually is.

Sengkang helps here. With two sheltered teaching pools, we can always find shallow, quiet water away from lap swimmers and away from an audience — and your child can stand up at any moment, which for an anxious swimmer changes everything.

And we keep it fun. Games, songs, our swim bands and custom medals — children who enjoy the water come back willing. That is not decoration; it is the mechanism. A child who associates the pool with fun stops bracing, and a child who stops bracing starts floating.

Children who arrive at Sengkang refusing to put their face in the water routinely finish their first 12-week cycle swimming float-free. If your child has stalled elsewhere, or cries at the changing room door, this is the conversation to have with us.

How We Teach an Anxious Child to Swim
Three things we do differently. They are the reason children who have stalled at other schools tend to move quickly with us.
1
No Forced Progression
Our coaches are trained never to push an anxious child past their comfort threshold. If a child needs to spend the entire first lesson sitting on the edge splashing their toes, or blowing bubbles into a cup, the coach adapts to that pace. No countdowns. No dunking. No “just once more”.
2
Relationship-First Teaching
We build genuine trust between child and coach before introducing strokes. That personal bond is what removes the panic response — the one that strict, large-group environments tend to trigger and then reinforce week after week.
3
Child-Led Easing
Gentle, play-based strategies desensitise a child to the specific triggers — water in the ears, a splash to the face, going under — without high-pressure tactics. The child sets the pace; the games do the work.

Our Kids Swimming Lessons at Sengkang

Small-group and private coaching for children from 3.5 years, built on SwimSafer 2.0 — Singapore’s national water safety framework — combined with the Tatsuki Japanese methodology we have taught for over 15 years.

Six to eight children per coach — small enough that no child spends the lesson waiting at the wall. Children progress in 12-week grading cycles, so you get a clear checkpoint on exactly where your child stands rather than a vague sense that they are improving.

Every child earns our proprietary swim bands and custom medals as they hit milestones. We are the only school in Singapore running this system, and it does more for a hesitant six-year-old than any amount of encouragement from the side of the pool.

From $120/month

One-to-one or private small-group coaching, for children who need a slower pace, a faster one, or focused stroke correction before a grading.

Particularly suited to genuinely water-anxious children — Sengkang’s two teaching pools mean we can work in shallow water, without an audience, for as long as it takes.

From $400/month

My daughter recently had her trial swimming lesson with Coach Alvin, and it was a very positive experience. At the beginning, she felt quite scared and even started crying, however, Coach Alvin was extremely professional and encouraging throughout the lesson. Offered her some little surprise packet with a pink frog in it. Cute! 🙂

He managed to comfort her, build her confidence, and slowly help her feel at ease in the water. I really appreciate his caring approach. Highly recommended for parents looking for a swimming coach for their kids! 🙂

My daughter attended the trial lesson and am happy to report that she wishes to continue. Coach Kai was patient and encouraging. My daughter was initially afraid to jump into the water but managed to overcome this with the coach’s help. We hope she can be a confident swimmer in time to come.

It was our first free trial with Ace Dolphins, and we had such a wonderful experience! Coach Alvin was extremely friendly and patient in guiding my boy, who had no prior experience in floating or breathing and was attending his very first swimming lesson. Despite his initial nervousness, Coach Alvin’s encouragement and gentle approach helped him feel more confident and willing to try harder.

A special thank-you for the heartwarming toy gift — it truly brightened up my boy’s day after his first trial in the big pool and gave him extra motivation to keep improving.

We also deeply appreciate the flexibility and understanding the school offered to accommodate our busy working schedule. Thank you, Coach Alvin and the Ace Dolphins team, for creating such a positive and encouraging environment for young learners! 💙

Today was the first trial lesson my two kids(5 and 7) had with ACE Dolphin Swim School with coach Alvin. I went in with a bit of hesitance as my last experience with another more expensive swimming class left a bit of a sour taste to my older kid and it was the first time I am sending his younger sibling with him.
Here are my observation
1) the teacher to class ratio is good. It was not too big a class and everyone got equal attention from the coach. There
2) coach Alvin is natural with kids. Can see he can build the rapport with the kids very quickly and can see the kids trust him enough to follow his instructions closely. Even with a child with a fear of water, he was able to earn the trust for the child to enter the water. It was not a one way interaction which I find it interesting and good as the kids of today is really different. His professionalism can be seen through the way he convey important lessons effectively for even younger kid. My kids told me they are excited for the next lesson.
3) the class started punctually and there was no time wasted
4) venue is awesome as it is a sheltered pool so no worries for wet weather.
Will recommend to go for a trial if you are looking for somewhere to start your child to learn to swim.

We recently had a lesson with Coach Alvin at Ace Dolphin Swim School | Sengkang, and it was excellent! His class is incredibly engaging, and both my kids were immediately hooked—they were definitely not bored! Coach Alvin clearly knows how to connect with children and make the learning process effective and fun. We were so impressed with the quality of instruction that we signed up for the full classes right after. We're looking forward to seeing our kids progress here!

My 2 boys aged 5 & 6 have been taking lessons at Happy Fish since they were toddler. This year we decided to enrol both of them with Ace Dolphin at sengkang swimming complex as we felt it is time for them to progress to a more open environment that is not as protected as Happy Fish.

Gladly to say 6 months down the road, they have gotten more independent and confident in water and are able to swim.

Coach Alvin is very experienced and is able to manage the lessons very well.

Happy Teacher’s Day, Coach Wei Jie (Ace Dolphin)

A heartfelt thank you for your unwavering dedication and patience in teaching Ernest swimming — starting from the tender age of 5 until now. Watching him grow in confidence and skill has been an incredible journey, and it wouldn’t have been possible without your steady guidance and encouragement.

Your calm presence, gentle instruction, and consistent support have left a lasting impression not only on Ernest but on all of us. Thank you for nurturing his love for swimming and for being such a positive influence in his life.

Wishing you a wonderful Teacher’s Day — you truly make a difference, one swimmer at a time!

My daughter began her swim journey with Ace Dolphin Swim School in July 2025, and what an incredible transformation I've witnessed in just 1.5 months.

When she first started, she was genuinely afraid to put her face underwater. As a parent, it was both heartbreaking and challenging to watch her battle that fear. But everything changed when she met Coach Alvin.

With his incredible patience, kindness, and steady guidance, Coach Alvin helped her build trust—not just in him, but in herself. He never rushed her progress, always encouraging her gently and celebrating every small step. Week by week, I saw her confidence grow. She began to enjoy her lessons, smile in the water, and eventually, start to swim with joy and assurance.

Today, she proudly dives into the kids’ pool (1 meter deep) to retrieve toys from the bottom—something I couldn’t have imagined her doing just weeks ago. It may seem like a small milestone to some, but to me, it’s a huge victory and a sign of how far she's come.

I am so grateful to Coach Alvin and the entire team at Ace Dolphin Swim School for creating such a supportive, positive environment. This journey has not only taught my daughter how to swim, but also how to face her fears and trust the process. Thank you for giving her this gift.

Highly recommended for any parent looking for a swim school that truly cares.
