Kids Swimming Lessons at Our Tampines Hub

Why Our Tampines Hub Is One of the Best Places in the East to Learn to Swim

Our Tampines Hub is the busiest swimming complex we teach at, and for good reason. On Level 6 of the Hub, it packs five separate pools into one site — a competition pool, a teaching pool, a learner pool, a wading pool and a jacuzzi.

That matters more than it sounds for a child learning to swim. Most complexes make beginners share water with lap swimmers. Here, a nervous five-year-old starts in the learner or wading pool, where the water is shallow enough to stand in and there is no fast lane traffic to worry about. Children only move up to the competition pool when they are genuinely ready.

There is also a sheltered pool on site. When the weather turns, classes move across to it and carry on — so a wet afternoon rarely costs your child a lesson.

It is also the easiest of our locations to get to. Tampines MRT (EW2) is a short walk away, the Hub has its own car park, and because the pool deck sits inside the Hub complex you are never far from a toilet, a changing room or somewhere to buy the child a drink afterwards.

For families across Tampines, Simei, Bedok Reservoir and Pasir Ris, this is the most convenient place in the East to get a child swimming properly.

Swimming Lessons for Children Afraid of Water

This is what we are known for. Most schools can teach a willing child to swim. Fewer can get a child into the water who has decided they will not go in.

We do not force progression. No child is dunked, counted down, or pushed under before they are ready. A frightened child does not learn — they brace, hold their breath and wait for the lesson to end. So we start where the child actually is.

Our Tampines Hub helps here. With five separate pools on site we can always find shallow, quiet water — a nervous child starts in the learner or wading pool where they can stand up at any moment, well away from lap swimmers and away from an audience. five separate pools on site we can always find shallow, quiet water — a nervous child starts in the learner or wading pool where they can stand up at any moment, well away from lap swimmers and away from an audience.

And we keep it fun. Games, songs, our swim bands and custom medals — children who enjoy the water come back willing. That is not decoration; it is the mechanism. A child who associates the pool with fun stops bracing, and a child who stops bracing starts floating.

Children who arrive at Our Tampines Hub refusing to put their face in the water routinely finish their first 12-week cycle swimming float-free. If your child has stalled elsewhere, or cries at the changing room door, this is the conversation to have with us.

How We Teach an Anxious Child to Swim
Three things we do differently. They are the reason children who have stalled at other schools tend to move quickly with us.
1
No Forced Progression
Our coaches are trained never to push an anxious child past their comfort threshold. If a child needs to spend the entire first lesson sitting on the edge splashing their toes, or blowing bubbles into a cup, the coach adapts to that pace. No countdowns. No dunking. No “just once more”.
2
Relationship-First Teaching
We build genuine trust between child and coach before introducing strokes. That personal bond is what removes the panic response — the one that strict, large-group environments tend to trigger and then reinforce week after week.
3
Child-Led Easing
Gentle, play-based strategies desensitise a child to the specific triggers — water in the ears, a splash to the face, going under — without high-pressure tactics. The child sets the pace; the games do the work.
SwimSafer 2.0 at Our Tampines Hub

Every child in our Tampines programme works through SwimSafer 2.0, the national water safety framework set by Sport Singapore. It is the standard Singapore schools recognise, and it is what most parents mean when they ask whether their child is “certified”.

SwimSafer runs in six progressive stages, beginning with water confidence and basic survival skills and building towards distance swimming, treading water and self-rescue. We fold it into our 12-week grading cycles, so your child is being assessed continuously rather than crammed before a test.

What this means in practice: you will know which stage your child is on, what they need to do to clear it, and roughly how long that will take. Coaches will tell you honestly if a child is not ready rather than pushing them through a grading they will fail.

SwimSafer tests themselves are booked centrally through the national system. We will tell you when your child is ready and guide you through it.

Our Swimming Coaches at Tampines

The coach matters more than the pool. Every Ace Dolphin coach at Our Tampines Hub is registered with the National Registry of Coaches (NROC) and trained in the Tatsuki Japanese methodology, with SwimSafer, AustSwim, ASCTA, SSI and Singapore Aquatics accreditation across the team.

Certification is the floor, not the differentiator. What we actually select for is temperament. A coach who can read when a child is frightened — and slow down instead of pushing — will get a nervous swimmer further in six weeks than a technically brilliant coach who cannot.

Group classes run at 6–8 children per coach, and your child works with the same coach each week rather than rotating. That continuity is a large part of why anxious children settle with us.

Looking for a private swimming coach in Tampines? Our one-to-one coaching is often the right starting point for children who freeze in a group, or for swimmers targeting a specific stroke correction.

Meet the Coaches at Our Tampines Hub

Our Kids Swimming Lessons at Our Tampines Hub

Small-group and private coaching for children from 3.5 years, built on SwimSafer 2.0 — Singapore’s national water safety framework — combined with the Tatsuki Japanese methodology we have taught for over 15 years.

Six to eight children per coach, so nobody spends the lesson queueing at the wall. Children work through 12-week grading cycles, which gives you a clear checkpoint on exactly where your child stands rather than a vague sense they are improving.

Every child earns our proprietary swim bands and custom medals as they hit milestones. We are the only school in Singapore running this system, and it does more for a hesitant six-year-old than any amount of encouragement from the side of the pool.

From $120/month

One-to-one or private small-group coaching, for children who need a slower pace, a faster one, or focused stroke correction before a SwimSafer grading.

Especially suited to genuinely water-anxious children — with five pools on site we can always find quiet, shallow water to work in, away from an audience.

From $400/month

We Specialise in the Children Other Schools Gave Up On

Water phobia is our strongest area. Children who arrive refusing to put their face in the water routinely finish their first cycle swimming float-free. If your child has tried lessons elsewhere and stalled, this is the conversation to have with us.

Calm and Chill — Not Drills and Shouting

We hire coaches as much for patience and emotional read as for technique. No child is pushed under before they are ready. Progress that is forced does not hold, and a frightened child does not learn.

We had a trial lesson with Coach Ivan. He was very engaging and clear in his instructions when teaching my sons in the pool. My sons enjoyed the session and feel safe with the coach. Moving forward, Coach Ivan talked about how my sons can progress and we set goals to reach towards in the next lessons.

I was truly impressed by the swimming coach’s calm and chill approach. From the moment we arrived, he created such a relaxed and safe atmosphere that even my anxious son began to feel at ease. Instead of rushing or pushing him, the coach used patience, gentle encouragement, and quiet confidence to build his trust. To my surprise and joy, my son became willing to try going into the deep pool — something he had been too afraid to do before. Watching his confidence grow during the session was incredibly heartwarming. That is why I decided to sign my kids up for the lessons.

Thank you, Coach Eric 🙂

I signed my child up for a trial class with Coach Gary, and it was a wonderful experience. He was friendly, patient, and very understanding, especially since my child was initially apprehensive about attending the swim class. Coach Gary quickly managed to engage him and build his confidence within the short 45-minute session. By the end of the trial, I was genuinely impressed to see my son jump into the pool, submerge his head underwater, and hold his breath before resurfacing (with assistance, of course). It was a big leap in confidence and ability in such a short amount of time.

We had our first trial lesson with Coach Eric, and we were genuinely impressed. From the moment the session began, He made our child feel comfortable and excited to be in the water. His friendly demeanor, clear instructions, and encouraging attitude created such a positive learning environment.

Even in just one session, we noticed how attentively Coach Eric observed and adapted to our child’s comfort level and skill. It was wonderful to see our little ones smiling, engaged, and already picking up new techniques. The coach struck a great balance between fun and focus, which made the experience both enjoyable and productive.

We’re really looking forward to continuing lessons and watching our child grow more confident in the water. A fantastic first impression—we’re so glad we found Coach Eric!

Coach Sunny was very patient with my young boy (he’s just turned 3 last month) who had gone for the trial to see if he would be able to join the class. Though his peers were all older and more experienced than him, coach Sunny had still given attention to my son and ensured that learning still took place for him. My son was initially fearful but grew more confident and stopped crying after a few mins thanks to Coach Sunny’s efforts in trying to build rapport with him. Will be signing up for the full class now (:

My kid has been with the school for 7 months now and I am seeing my kid growing more confident in water. My kid has little exposure to water play/pool prior to joining Ace Dolphin. Lesson progress seems slow at the beginning but I guess it may be intentionally structured that way for children to have sufficient time to build confident and familiar to be in water. Thank you to Coach Sunny for the patient, encouragement, and being strict to the kids when needed. I look forward seeing my kid to be able to swim without board and not forgotten to be ready for SwimSafer Lvl 1 certification.
Coach Alvin and Coach Han Rong are patient, supportive, and skilled swimming instructors. My daughter was initially very afraid of the water, but with Coach Alvin’s guidance, she now swims confidently.
Coach Han Rong teaches my son, and thanks to his patient support, my son picked up swimming quickly and now swims confidently after just a few lessons. Highly recommend!

Coach Gary is patient, soft-spoken and kind. The small group sizes make the classes conducive for learning, and each child receives adequate attention and guidance. He encourages progress at a comfortable pace for every child, without being harsh or strict. We also appreciate that he is flexible and understanding when make-up lessons are needed, for instance if the kids are suddenly unwell. A very nice and reliable coach whom we would recommend.

2024: My 7 year old daughter joined Ace Dolphin early 2024 after being with Happy Fish for 4 years. Within the same year, Coach Gary recommended her to go for swimming test Bronze level, something we waited very long for previously. My daughter can be reserved and quiet but Coach Gary managed to make her feel safe with his kind personality and calm demeanour. He is good with children and caring towards them. This shows when he teaches them. My daughter enjoys going to swimming class. Thank you Coach Gary!

2025: We’ve had a wonderful experience with Coach Gary! This is our second year with him, and we continue to be impressed by his patience, consistency, and dedication. He is incredibly accommodating and always fully present during each session, creating a supportive and encouraging environment for the kids. Our child has grown so much in confidence and ability under his guidance, and we’re now looking forward to the next stage of assessment. Highly recommended!

Coach Han Rong has fun way of teaching swimming. He can be serious and yet entertaining simultaneously. What I really like about Coach Han Rong is his flexibility in teaching – he would always cater to each individual’s needs and observe each student’s swimming movements, and then tackle the problem at hand. It is a very efficient way of teaching!
Highly Recommended Coach Han Rong. 👍

Coach Hanrong has been teaching my kids for almost 5 years. My boys both started out afraid of entering the water (then aged 5 and 6), but he was very patient and friendly with them and slowly helped them gain water confidence. After almost 5 years with Ace Dolphin (off and on due to Covid-related restrictions/fasting month/exams, and alternating at times between private and group classes based on our schedule for the time being), am happy to say that my boys have now achieved their Silver Swimsafer certification! Thank you Coach Hanrong and team for the wonderful support in their swimming journey and imparting in them an invaluable lifeskill that they will no doubt benefit from for years to come! 🙂
